City to Sea, Coney Island
Community Project 2016-2018
City to Sea is returning to Coney Island, NY in September 2016 to work with the community at Coney Island Gospel Assembly, beginning a year-long project exploring life in Coney Island. Working with local people, the new project aims to tell stories about the environment, communities living in the neighborhood, and their recovery from Superstorm Sandy through images of architecture, portraiture and landscapes. The workshop will result in a group photography exhibition of projects made by residents inspired by their community, coastline and culture of New York City. The show will take place in New York in 2017 to coincide with the 5th anniversary of Superstorm Sandy, with the aim of being screened at the Urban Encounters Conference, at Tate Britain, London 2017.
